Assignment 4 Ten balloons in the air
What will you need?
- 10 balloons
- the Think-Feel-Do worksheet
Instructions:
Blow up the balloons and tie a knot in each one. Try to keep all ten balloons in the air at the same time. If you succeed, you’ve completed the challenge!
You can decide by yourself how to approach the task but the person with you can occasionally ask questions about what you’re thinking about, how you feel and what you could do if you’re not sure of the next step. After the assignment, fill in the Think-Feel-Do worksheet together.
If you want to, why not repeat the assignment to find out whether other thoughts or actions might lead to different results. You might even notice a change in how you feel the second or third time you do the assignment.
Adapting the Activity for children aged 4 and above:
You can gradually increase the challenge by starting with one balloon and gradually adding more. Ten balloons at once might be too difficult for younger children. Decide together what feels realistic and achievable.
Variation
Simply blowing up a balloon or tying the knot can be a challenge all by itself — and a great opportunity for the child to practise asking for help.
